Better late than never on setting goals for the new year, right?! I’ve actually been itching to write and get back into blogging on a more regular schedule, but Violet has been extra clingy the last couple weeks and does not want to leave my side (actually, boob) all evening. But I’d be lying if I said I don’t enjoy the extra snuggles sometimes!
I love the start of a new year for a couple reasons. One, I’m not a fan of Christmas and usually can’t wait to put my decorations away. Two, I love the idea of a fresh start! It’s such a good feeling to set goals for the upcoming year and reflect on the year that has passed.
I ordered this beautiful planner from JLynn Designery and it is already helping keep me on top of my goals. It encourages you to set three goals for 2018, which I did. To help keep me accountable I thought I’d share them here:
- Grow my blog and Instagram following. This blog is just for fun and was never meant to be a money-making adventure. I enjoy writing and wanted an outlet to exercise my creative muscles, and I genuinely hope to fill an information gap that I felt was missing when I was pregnant and looking for trusted resources online. That said, it would be great if my efforts were actually impacting people! So I want to reach more people and be more diligent about regularly posting blogs and on Instagram.
- Get back in shape. I’m not necessarily obsessed with losing the baby weight, but I still have 20 of the 35 pounds I gained to lose. I haven’t put a lot of pressure on myself these first few months, but it’s time to get back in shape. I know I’ll feel better, and I’m ready to be able to wear all my clothes!
- Save money for a house. My little family is still in our “starter” home. My husband actually owned it for years before I came along, and we’ve made it work, but it’s becoming more and more clear that we need more space and a much different layout. We’ve been saving for years, but since I’m more desperate to move, I want to really focus on being financially responsible so I can contribute more to our savings!
2017 will always be a cherished year in my memory since it’s the year I became a mom, but there are big things in store for 2018 too! I’ll turn 30, graduate with my Master’s degree, have a one-year-old, and hopefully buy a house. If 2017 was all about baby, 2018 is going to be all about really settling into my new role as a mom.
