Time is flying by at this point! We have less than two months until we meet our baby girl. The first month of my third trimester has definitely been the most uncomfortable I’ve had so far. I’m not quite ready to be done with pregnancy, but I can see the writing on the wall that the next couple months are going to be tough. Luckily I have plenty to do that will keep my mind occupied!
Symptoms…
Moving around in general has gotten a little more difficult. Cars, couches, office chairs and the bathtub have all become quite the obstacles in my everyday maneuvering! Thanks to the growing belly I’ve also been experiencing a lot of back pain this month. Massages from Dave, baths and prenatal yoga are helping! The worst symptom that’s new this month is insomnia. My energy levels have plummeted to first trimester levels, but when I try to fall asleep it takes me a long time and then I wake up consistently throughout the night. A few times this month I would wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep, so I started a few mornings at 4 a.m. and then would take naps or try for a really early bedtime!
What I’m wearing…
I’m in mostly maternity clothes at this point, with the exception of a couple stretchy dresses and flowy maxi dresses and tops that can still accommodate the belly. After a couple failed attempts, I finally found an adorable baby shower dress that I’m also planning to wear for some maternity photos. I’m also finding that I like more form-fitting clothes at this point. I usually love loose and flowy, but those styles make me feel huge and are just not flattering for my growing shape. Another new style I’m loving this month is midi dresses. I usually avoided midi length because I felt like it made me look shorter and wasn’t flattering for my legs, but now I’m loving midi dresses! They’re more flattering on the bump without riding up and look dressier than a maxi.
Cravings…
Still sweets (really trying to limit my intake but it’s easier said than done). I’m also running out of room in my belly and can’t eat very much at one time, so I’ve been eating more snacks throughout the day and not as many full meals. Even when it is time for lunch or dinner, I find myself wanting simple snack foods like string cheese, yogurt, fruit and a hardboiled egg more than I want a full meal.
Most exciting moment…
My first baby shower! My work family spoiled baby girl with some much needed and wanted picks from my registry and some of their own amazing finds, including a to-die for newborn swimsuit that I’ll have to share soon. It was also great to finish the semester and know I have a few months off before diving back into grad school.
Stressed about…
Finishing our to do lists! I have things to buy, things to read, things to organize, things to clean and just lots of things I want and need to do before she arrives. I consolidated everything into one big list and have been trying to tackle at least something small every day.
Can’t wait for…
My last two baby showers! I’m celebrating with family and girlfriends in early June and then hosting a BBQ/diaper shower with one of my best friends in mid-June. She and her husband are having a little girl a month after us, and we thought it would be fun to celebrate the dads-to-be by hosting our mutual friends for one last get together before our girls arrive.
