Gift Ideas for Expectant Mothers

It might seem easy to buy a gift for an expectant mom – that’s what registries are for, right? But registries are usually full of things for baby, not for mom herself! I’ve been spoiled throughout my pregnancy with some amazing gifts that I thought I’d share in case you’re looking to get something really special for the mom-to-be in your life.

  • Journal – Everyone pregnant woman surely has a million thoughts running through her head, and it’s important to capture those feelings because while pregnancy may seem long for her, it really goes by so quickly. Mom (and eventually baby) will love looking back on her thoughts and feelings years from now. Any beautiful journal will do, but I failed at keeping up so I gifted myself a Promptly Journal, which provides just the right guidance to help get thoughts flowing and keep me on track.

  • Prenatal massage – My in laws got me a gift certificate for a prenatal massage at my favorite spa in KC, Milagro Midwestern Spa. I’ve had one prenatal massage so far and it was amazing! It’s the perfect way to encourage soon-to-be moms to relax and might provide some relief for her aching back and hips.

  • Beauty box subscription – My stepmom got me a subscription to FabFitFun, and I absolutely love it! It’s like Christmas comes four times a year. Since I’ve been pregnant, I haven’t wanted to spend my extra money on trying new beauty products (I have baby clothes to buy!) so this has really been the only way I’ve experimented with new products this year. It’s a great reminder to pamper myself and I know I’ll appreciate that it just shows up at my doorstep even more once baby girl has arrived! My mom also got me a new beauty product that I’m waiting to try until after baby girl is here that I know will save me some time getting ready – I’ll share more once I’ve tried it!

  • Housecleaning session – Dave is a notoriously amazing gift-giver, and I have to admit he wins in my pregnancy gifts so far. For my prenatal Mother’s Day gift he got me a four-hour housecleaning session! I’m going to wait to have them come for a few more weeks so that my house is nice and clean when we bring baby home. My “things to do before baby arrives” list has been overwhelming me lately, and the moment I opened this gift I felt some stress relief. This will give me more time for the fun nesting, like folding little baby girl clothes!

I’m so grateful for all the pampering I’ve gotten over my pregnancy. There are days when it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and not very good about yourself. I try to take it all in stride, stay calm and enjoy every fleeting moment, but these gifts have all really helped me and I’m sure would be appreciated by any expecting mama!
