Month Six Update

Month six is complete and I’m officially done with the second trimester! I can’t believe that we really only have a third of the way to go and should meet this baby girl in the next 12 weeks.

Symptoms…

Baby girl started kicking and hasn’t stopped since! I can feel her moving around like crazy, and her movements are strong enough that they can be felt on the outside of my belly regularly. It’s not uncommon to see my belly bulging to one side or a little hand or foot (I assume) popping out. I’ve also experienced heartburn for the first time in pregnancy this month. I think my stomach is being crowded by this chubby baby, but I’ve figured out if I stay upright (no sitting back or lying down) for an hour after eating it’s not as severe. Another new symptom this month is sensitive skin. I had a rash on my belly for a couple days and a sunburn that lasted a few days, and I very rarely burn!

What I’m wearing…

I’m definitely filling out maternity tops and pants much better this month. I can still wear some flowy non-maternity tops and stretchy non-maternity dresses, but a lot of the non-maternity pieces that worked well a few weeks ago are not so comfy these days. I’m especially loving tops from PinkBlush Maternity and PJs and dresses from ASOS Maternity. I’ve also been accessorizing with some Target festival-style open front tops that will be great post-baby too. I’m currently on the hunt for a baby shower dress, and that will likely be one of my final maternity clothing purchases unless I need some basics. I figure if I haven’t needed it yet I probably don’t need it at all!

Cravings…

Definitely still craving sweets. The sour candy craving has mostly gone away and I just want all the chocolate, iced cream and baked goods I can get my hands on. I’ve also been craving coffee, particularly iced lattes but any coffee will usually do. A Starbucks iced nonfat latte is my go to (no unicorn drinks here)!

Most exciting moment…

There were a few this month, but seeing Dave feel her kick for the first time and our babymoon in Galveston were the highlights.

Stressed about…

How soon she’ll be here! Ever since April began it felt so close, only three months away. And now with the beginning of May just around the corner it feels like there’s no way we’ll be ready for her in two short months!

Can’t wait for…

The semester to be over. I’m taking two classes toward my master’s this semester and have been a little overwhelmed with everything there is to do. I’m looking forward to classes finishing in early May so I can devote more of my personal time to baby prepping and relaxing!
